If users interested in espresso pods find out that their current espresso machine cannot support espresso pods, they have to make a decision. Either they buy a new espresso machine capable of using the pods or they decide to stick with what they have and simply keep making espresso the original way. The added expense of having to get a new machine probably wouldn't be worth it for most, but those who are more concerned about the perfect pot of espresso, not to mention the reduction in clean up time, might be inclined to buy an appropriate machine.

Espresso pods are another indication of just how much the industry is evolving. Making espresso the traditional way requires a certain amount of skill. But using pods greatly simplifies the tasks and allows others who perhaps would never have bought an espresso machine to get in on the fun.
